Man, screw this headline.
Literally in the news post on Steam, it says:
So while factually an accurate headline, it's implying something else. More accurate would be 13 years on, Ubisoft adds Steam achievements to original Assassin's Creed III, with achievements coming to AC III Remastered soon too.
Disclaimer: I hate Ubisoup games and I haven't bought a single game since Far Cry 3
Man, you should give Prince of Persia the Lost Crown a look if you like metroidvanias, it's really good. And if you prefer roguelikes The Rogue Prince of Persia is also really good.
FC3 was a long time ago, too. Much as I find their template for open world games has been tired for a while, they have done more than that. Rayman Legends is an all time great, came out after that. The Trials games had good entires after FC3. Trackmania is quirky, but I do like it quite a bit. Child of Light is newer. Grow Home is newer. Definitely worth checking out. The Mario and Rabbids games were solid tactical games. The Anno games are a very specific flavor of strategy with few alternatives, and as conservative as the Division games are, they were a guilty pleasure for me.
I don't know how anybody can hate all of that at once, frankly. That's a lot of of very competent entries in a whole lot of genres to be mad about.
Ah I forgot about Mario + Rabbids. I did buy that one, albeit second hand.
And I've heard good things about the Prince of Persia game before, but I refuse to give them any money. Mostly due to their business practices, sexual harassment suits and other misconduct.
There's plenty of games to play and love, so I'm not missing much. Regardless, thanks for the recommendations, I know you're doing it from a good place.
Another copy paster passing themselves as a journalist. Also, the Ubi = bad trend has resulted in engagement every time some headline resembles ubi = bad.
If it weren't for the negative ramifications elsewhere, I'd like to see outlets like PC GAMER sued to the ground for this type of rage bait shenanigans. Maybe then we'd get reliable news again...
