  • X, the former Twitter, has experienced a worldwide outage as of 12PM on Monday CAT.
  • This is likely the first major outage of the company since Musk took ownership in 2022.
  • The outage seems to have only lasted for about half an hour.

Oh no. So anyway, tonight we're having a stereotypical American meal that takes 25 minutes off your life; Sloppy joes, macaroni and cheese, and potato salad. It's quite good, everything made from scratch since I don't have a job anymore. How about you?

Im going to have a meal of a block of cheddar cheese with melted cheese on top, with grated permesan sprinkled on top, basted with a 5lb tub of butter.

This sounds as delicious as 64 slices of American cheese.

[-] TK420@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

American cheese is not really cheese, and kinda gross compared to any other popular cheese.

[-] UrMomsSweetAss@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 11 months ago

Pfft. Found the Canadian.

No, American here. This was a sad day for me to hear those words, but it makes sense. We treat it like cheese, but it’s wannabe cheddar. Besides, cheddar is superior.

Also, Canada has way better quality food than America. We’re kinda fucked.

[-] GeeDubHayduke@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 11 months ago

That's not really an authentic American meal unless you deep fry it in HFCS.

[-] TehWorld@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

Is that pepper? Nope… gunpowder.

[-] GeeDubHayduke@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 11 months ago

Freedom powder.

[-] UrMomsSweetAss@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 11 months ago

Ah yes. Americas original pop rocks.

You might consider adding a couple eggs to that. Since you can afford "permesan" and butter, I feel like it's possible you might even be able to afford the eggs without having to take out a small personal loan.

[-] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

A small loan of 1 million dollars.

[-] UrMomsSweetAss@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 11 months ago

Permesan is just fancy Parmesan.

I cant afford TWO whole eggs though. Thats just silly now.

We had a nice homemade Thai curry here (and no, I don't live on Thailand)

[-] GooberEar@lemmy.wtf 1 points 11 months ago

I know how that goes. We sometimes have watermelon for a snack (and no I don't live on the Africa).

[-] 2nd_Fermenter@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

I'm not going to lie, that sounds really good. I'm sorry about your job, but your dinner sounds amazing.

[-] GooberEar@lemmy.wtf 3 points 11 months ago

Honestly, it's almost a relief to hear someone say "sorry about your job" without adding the caveat "but DoD/DoE/NIH/USAID is fraud/waste/bad/scam" to the statement. And yes, it was a pretty darned good dinner as long as healthy wasn't one of the criteria.

[-] JakJak98@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Sorry about your loss. I fear that I am not far behind you.

Chakalaka.

Dice an onion and a bell pepper, throw it into plenty of fat, sizzle until the onions are glassy, add some chilli (pickled is fine the end result can use some acid), not too little English curry powder, mix well, making sure the powder is roasted (it changes taste quite drastically), top with a grated carrot or two (veggie proportions are up to taste), put on the lid and let steam on medium heat (err towards low), once steamed (the carrot shreds basically fall apart) add a can of baked beans. Those don't need to be cooked, just let the stuff stand for a bit until everything is at equal temperature.

Eat as-is or with whatever, rice works well. Probably works with any curry mix I just happen to be out of Thai for a surprising amount of time now so I didn't try yet. Size-wise I'd say that the onion should be cut about half the size the beans are, and the bell pepper pieces to be about twice as large as the beans. If you want carrot pieces you can do that but I'd still suggest shredding some so that it can dissolve some sweetness into the saucy part.
