Imo deadpool 3 was good, Captain America BNW was trash
The Batman was good.
Deadpool is like almost not a comic book movie though
I mean in a literal sense it obviously is - but his whole schtick with breaking the 4th wall and such is more like a meta comic book movie, and in many ways meta commentary gets better the more tired and worn out it’s target mainstream genre becomes.
There’s probably a point where it is so worn even a Deadpool movie is more beating a dead horse than comedic catharsis but most of us don’t seem to be there yet
Deadpool is to The Avengers as Austin Powers is to James Bond.
Most new movies are not those things, but likely most new movies you've heard about are. They're the only ones that get any real marketing spend behind them.
Same. I grew up loving comic books, still do, and I even enjoyed movies like Superman and Batman and hollywoods interpretation of the classics, with the tongue in cheek corniness. Then they started taking themselves seriously with endless series of bullshit to edge the fans. I’m happy that it looks like the trend is dying, but it seems like they’re having a hard time letting go. For the love of god, just go by the comics! They’re amazing! Give your money to the artist and creators, not some studio…. I’ll jump off of the soap box now.
Sorry to anyone who loves comic book movies unironically. Bet they also have a sizeable funco pop and star wars mech collection to prove they're nerds.
I love superhero movies when they're not horrible, and love the MCU and multiverse as concepts at the very least.
