Welcome to c/news! We aim to foster a book-club type environment for discussion and critical analysis of the news. Our policy objectives are:
To learn about and discuss meaningful news, analysis and perspectives from around the world, with a focus on news outside the Anglosphere and beyond what is normally seen in corporate media (e.g. anti-imperialist, anti-Zionist, Marxist, Indigenous, LGBTQ, people of colour).
To encourage community members to contribute commentary and for others to thoughtfully engage with this material.
To support healthy and good faith discussion as comrades, sharpening our analytical skills and helping one another better understand geopolitics.

Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.
American politics: Discussion and effort posts on the (potential) material impacts of American electoral politics is welcome, but the never-ending circus of American Politics© Brought to You by Mountain Dew™ is not welcome. This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.
Electoralism: Please try to avoid struggle sessions about the value of voting/taking part in the electoral system in the West. c/electoralism is right over there.
AI Slop: Don't post AI generated content. Posts about AI race/chip wars/data centers are fine.
To add to this, they're maximizing the terror by making their ICE raids plain clothed, fully masked, and in unmarked cars. They often don't identify themselves properly.and don't bother showing a warrant, they just jump people.

Exactly. it's indistingushable from a professional criminal kidnapping team. And this is fucked (and very Amerikkkan) but once they start grabbing citizens (particularly white ones) shit is going to hit the fan. It will be like when Tom Hanks getting Covid suddenly made it "real".
Also I wonder if they would even get proper backup if there was armed resistance. Like, they are doing this so under the table, so "illegally" that it might be impossible to get local or federal assistance in any useful timeframe. They know they are effectively kidnapping people "illegally" so they have to move fast and break rules. It's just as likely local police backup would open fire on them as on some kind of community militia (like 50/50 lol). So it would be risky, and they know it.
I doubt they have federal SWAT teams or military staged and standing by. This admin is so bad at logistics I seriously doubt they have planned that far ahead. Plus they fired the logistics guys, i mean they aren't "warfighters" after all.

I kind of think the admin would like for some of their ICE kidnappers to get shot so it can be used to justify more suppression
ICE tries kidnapping someone. They open fire and call the police. ICE does not call for whatever reason and the cops join the victims side in the shootout.
This is wishful thinking. Cops will show up and shoot the dog (at best)
