As someone that subscribes to the fundamental tenants of vexillography, I have a bigger issue with Virginia's state flag overall design. It is bad practice to use a state seal in a flag design. It is worse practice to also include text in a flags design. -Imagine if you shrank that flag down to 2"x3" do you think you'd still be able to read that? Flag's are supposed to be read from a distance.

-My solution is to keep the boob, and get rid of everything else except the blue and white background. It would be distinctive and it would still retain it's same symbolism.
