I watched the first season and thought it was incredibly bad. I was surprised to hear it had been renewed for even a second one.
i knew it was going to be not great after they gave Perrin a wife just to kill her off and make her a My Wife's Dead guy
he had a wife in the books! she didn't die! she was like a fuckin, borderland warrior princess!
That's what put me off ever watching. Perrin's whole deal was being careful and methodical, given his enormous size and strength. To accidentally hurt someone he loved in the heat of the moment is antithetical to his character.
Yeah you get it, this is why i said only nerds should be allowed to adapt the stuff they like
Also imo it's extra fucked to get rid of Faile, who was cool, to invent a wife just to fridge her for perrin for no reason
Now that I think about it, I wonder why I empathised so much with the big strong bearded guy worried about hurting others, who was hopelessly devoted to a confident and beautiful wife who was playfully mean to him.
Faile does come into the story later, and given they cut out Tear to go to the wastes, maybe she would have shown up in a hypothetical S4.
she did show up in season 3 tho, fine performance too
spoiler
immediately hated herIt got better. This last season was pretty damn good, so sucks it's cancelled now.
yeah very disappointing. I liked where it was going
Yeah, I had heard fans of the book series hated that first season and the liberties it took.
Which is why I'm surprised Foundation got a 3rd season.
Foundation really fucking pissed me off because I really liked the book series, psychohistory is literally Dialectical Materialism as predictive math, the whole fucking thing, at least up until the Mule and all the psychic bullshit, is rooted in materialism pushing societal changes
and then the show comes out and it turns out the showrunner just wanted to do their own fucking thing! like, they wanted to do their own original fucking IP, but woops, got saddled with Asimov's work, and just decided to do it wearing that thing's skin
fuck them fucking christ, fuck
Foundation is nothing like the books, but they somehow make a good show of it. The actor for the weird clone emperor thing they did is perfectly cast.
The clone emperor triumvirate is literally like the one good change that they made that could have just worked with the original plot
yeah they could have done with less changes but I still think they've made a good show, it just sucks that it has the name "foundation" imo
Second season was really good, the third was ok. Sad that they canceled it, but not surprised.
