10/10 - the throughline of cicada sounds throughout was probably one of my favorite details, especially that it ended up being somewhat significant plot wise.

Only a few episodes into the anime, so I’m interested to see how it compares.

There's some minor differences that just work better IMO. The publication history of it is kinda interesting - it started alongside the anime, but didn't finish until the early 2010s. It's not a terribly long read - worth a shot if you enjoyed the show enough.
