Corners were cut and mistakes were made.

This is my assumption about nearly all modern tech. We've reached the point where it's practically standard practice to release unfinished products and/or software. In many cases, it ends up being a particular person or small group of enthusiasts that end up finishing and polishing the product.

Not only that, but support for many tech products is shorter-term than ever. I was talking to a mechanic recently who was surprised to be informed by Alfa Romeo's parts department, that they did not offer replacements for a particular part for the brake lines on a car that was less than 10 years old...and referred the mechanic to find a seller on eBay who makes them. There was indeed one company making the part and selling them on eBay. That was the aftermarket support, lol!
