Tl;dr: EA fucked it up.
Longer Tl;dr: EA wanted that sweet live service money rain. Bioware said it's not their thing. EA wanted it anyway. It didn't work. Resignations, change of direction, unreasonable expectations and dumbass deadlines. Siblings fight, favoured child wins. Release, fail in sales, kick out the lesser twin. Remain dumb as hell.
