A place to discuss privacy and freedom in the digital world.
Privacy has become a very important issue in modern society, with companies and governments constantly abusing their power, more and more people are waking up to the importance of digital privacy.
In this community everyone is welcome to post links and discuss topics related to privacy.
Some Rules
- Posting a link to a website containing tracking isn't great, if contents of the website are behind a paywall maybe copy them into the post
- Don't promote proprietary software
- Try to keep things on topic
- If you have a question, please try searching for previous discussions, maybe it has already been answered
- Reposts are fine, but should have at least a couple of weeks in between so that the post can reach a new audience

I feel like everyone should have assumed this the second it was known this was a Chinese company...
Yes it is an "assumption" with Chinese companies, but the broken part is where US companies have been caught selling private information not only to 3rd parties but also to the US government. This TikTok evidence still needed to see cross-examination in court as the person stating it, was an ex-employee. We can't say it has not happened, but I prefer to judge after something is actual court evidence.
Yeah definately a "water is wet" kinda revelation.
Also, given that I am not Chinese, I dont really see much of a risk for foriegn citizens. I would be more concerned with my own governments spying (and most all of them do in the western world).
Fixed:
It's not as if the US doesn't have access to data that US social media apps have.
