Even the US was better about housing when the USSR existed. The gov housing in my hometown got demolished in the 90s and was never replaced with anything. I'm not sure what happened to the "gotta keep up with the commies" attitude in US gov, but they definitely don't give a fuck anymore. China will have teleporters or some shit and we'll still be driving 10 miles to the nearest grocery store.

I think they're still riding on the high of having won the Cold War and have honed their anticommunist propaganda to the point where any actual achievements by China are irrelevant as far as Westerners' perceptions are concerned.

The liberals don’t even care anymore. Their latest catchphrase is “that’s just pure propaganda” whenever they are exposed to the reality of the contradictions of their ideology.
