Every time I see a Soviet neighborhood, my heart aches for the world that was stolen from us.
Even the US was better about housing when the USSR existed. The gov housing in my hometown got demolished in the 90s and was never replaced with anything. I'm not sure what happened to the "gotta keep up with the commies" attitude in US gov, but they definitely don't give a fuck anymore. China will have teleporters or some shit and we'll still be driving 10 miles to the nearest grocery store.

I think they're still riding on the high of having won the Cold War and have honed their anticommunist propaganda to the point where any actual achievements by China are irrelevant as far as Westerners' perceptions are concerned.
The liberals don’t even care anymore. Their latest catchphrase is “that’s just pure propaganda” whenever they are exposed to the reality of the contradictions of their ideology.

I don't see shitty fast food chains everywhere. 1/10
Disgusting. It doesn’t look anything like this ->
How do people live in neighborhoods without a Panera?
What's all that green stuff in between the buildings? Are communist parking lots painted green or something?
My family has 6 cars (there's 2 of us). where are we supposed to park?
There's very clearly a lake which is perfect for dumping cars. Just park with a high enough speed to get it stuck deep enough to not scar the aesthetics
Typical communists...can you believe how little street parking there is? This is an outrage
I have to disappoint, there is street parking:
Also, articles about this neighbourhood often say that it's a "traffic nightmare" because it was designed for a car ownership rate one-fifth of what it is now. Okay...
Carbrains gonna carbrain
I'd like to see this picture with a label next to each building pointing out what its function is (school, housing, sports centre...) and former access to public transit
The photo looks like a render or from Cities: Skylines lol
For those wondering, the neighbourhood shown is Väike-Õismäe in Tallinn.

This could have been several Estonias of suburban single family housing instead. Never forgive the Soviet planners.
Look what this monsters did to the palace garden that belonged to my great grandpa
