I have been alive for probably longer than most lemmy users and I can not remember even 1/10th of this many stories about any other military aircraft so frequently just doing that than with the F-35.
There's the German F-104.
Legend says the easiest way to get your own F-104 is to buy a plot of land in West German and wait for one to crashed there.

I was reading in 2000 how problematic the F-35 would be. This joke/tragedy has been going on longer than I have been alive.
You get whatever the media is focused on. Hundreds of F16s have been lost to non-combat accidents throughout history, yet somehow we have no memory of them.
