Is pedophilia really that prevalent? If Epstein called me and was like "bilb I have a smoking hot 14 year old ready for you" I would not be enticed.

I think the fucked up part is that they aren't really "true" pedophiles. I think it's simply the power and being able to get away with something so henious that they are into. The Trump letter to Epstein reinforced this belief for me.
Well, some of them definitely are. There were girls as young as 13 involved.
Yeah but that's not what they meant, I think what they were saying with "true paedophiles" are people fixated by diddling kids, that don't have money to do whatever they want.
It'm also questioning it tbh, because it's always a power thing, fetishes revolving around forbidden topics entice in their own way and are fine with consenting adults and adequate safety, but the power and control fixations involved in forcing kids are unique ethically.
They're onto something about the ultra-rich that I was trying to understand and discuss that it seems like a disproportionate amount take the chance to fuck a minor like groupes or Epstein and I don't think I could live with something like that or even be near someone that would.

I can't recall the word and I'm not about to google it, but I suspect they are generally not "pedophiles" but that thing that refers to post-puberty but still underage. Like the physical attributes of sexual maturity with the power dynamics of a child.
They might even go for plausible deniability. Again, haven't researched too hard but I wouldn't be surprised if some satisfied Epstein customers never actually asked or were told the specific ages and could at least claim they thought they were 18 or 19 or something.
I do expect the Epstein "list" to be potentially messy. If there's one thing that seemed obvious is that he collected celebrity contact info like trophies. If there's a "list" in practice, I hope it's anchored in evidence and I hope Epstein was big on making sure he had blackmail fodder. If it's just contacts he managed to get, that would be a rough time for everyone all around.

Regardless of semantics, it's all deplorable.
No arguments about it being deplorable, just that it is different and some things can happen in that case but not pedophelia, like someone claiming to be oblivious to the underage nature of the victim. It can strain credibility, but if you actually declare 18 as arbitrarily 'good' then after puberty some people have a chance at superficially passing, but no one could possibly believe that about a pre-teen. Of course 18 should be considered pretty deplorable if you are over 22 or so, but as it stands with things...
