I think a better connotation would be “lends.” Greta Thunberg lends her name and fame to.
The media would care a lot less about the flotilla if it didn’t have a household name onboard. “Hitches” implies Thunberg is doing it for her own benefit. “Lends” has the opposite implication.
I’m sorry I, a random dude in the Midwest, didn’t know about a thing happening in the Mediterranean that no one told me about. I’m so ashamed. /s
What exactly is your point?
I think the point was pretty clearly that her being there does lend notoriety to it which you just proved. So complaining about her being there is silly.
It’s not that people don’t care. It’s that people don’t know. That’s my entire point. Media pays more attention because a name people know is involved.
If people aren’t talking about it, other people won’t hear about it. That’s why “famous” people get involved, to bring attention to it.
“Greta derangement syndrome”?
No, he said "greta derrangement syndrome", not “Greta derangement syndrome”. The difference is he doesn't know how to fucking spell :D
Lol
Then it’s a good thing she is on this one, right?
Yes but people should care about flotillas regardless he is in there
Of course, but her being there brings more visibility that the previous one didn’t have.
I love that she is there but i would like to hear credits for all of them. For example Chris small who never new about him before was the most abused by the idf
Then it sounds like it should be celebrated that someone with significant presence on the world stage lends their name, bringing the news of this flotilla to further reaches.
It's hardly my fault if news about the previous one did not reach widespread audiences. I would have loved to have followed it, too. I simply never saw anything about it.
So. Edgy
I used that term entirely on purpose: you are indeed correct that Greta Thunberg helps the operation by giving it the press time it wouldn't have without her. But the operation itself helps her stay in the limelight, which is kind of her entire job at this point.
It's mutually beneficial: her brand and the Palestine operation help each other. And there's nothing wrong with that.
A person is not a brand
