How do you guys handle it?

Watching the planet "die" in real time?

I just have this omnipresent sense of dread that I'm gonna open this app or another and find out the AMOC collapsed or something. And there's literally nothing I can do about it.

I have no idea if the actions I am taking accomplish anything but I sought out some action groups because I hate the idea of just watching as things get worse. Now I canvas, table, call and email my representatives to share opinions on climate related bills, initiatives, etc.

While I believe the world is getting worse, I also believe there is a lot still to appreciate

I've stopped caring. I used to. I used to care a lot.

Denial Anger<- right here Bargaining Depression Acceptance

Now I just watch. Hoping I get to see the fuckers responsible choke on the smog of thier own bullshit before I do.

Sure, I still do what I can on my end, grow my own food, solar panels, recycling, the whole nine yards. But it's not like that's going to do anything. Just makes my carbon footprint less.

I fantasize about the moment when the morons in charge realize it. They won't admit it of course, but you'll see it, they'll start building bunkers, shelters, try to get off the planet. And then fail, and then do a last pathetic little hail mary to try and fix things, fail. And then bitch and moan and scream all the way to the fucking grave.

And finally. When most or all of us are dead; and the biosphere of earth has reduced 95%, things will start to get better.

Drugs, mostly.

But seriously, I understand the feeling. Realizing you've spent your entire life watching those in power bend over backwards to destroy the planet despite decades of scientific evidence highlighting the problem is beyond aggravating and incredibly depressing all at the same time.

About

Biodiversity is a term used to describe the enormous variety of life on Earth. It can be used more specifically to refer to all of the species in one region or ecosystem. Biodiversity refers to every living thing, including plants, bacteria, animals, and humans. Scientists have estimated that there are around 8.7 million species of plants and animals in existence. However, only around 1.2 million species have been identified and described so far, most of which are insects. This means that millions of other organisms remain a complete mystery.

Over generations, all of the species that are currently alive today have evolved unique traits that make them distinct from other species. These differences are what scientists use to tell one species from another. Organisms that have evolved to be so different from one another that they can no longer reproduce with each other are considered different species. All organisms that can reproduce with each other fall into one species. Read more...
