This has to be the best way to play the original game on PC. It's right up there with Sonic 3 a.i.r. in terms of fan ports to pc. Get it while it's hot because nintendo will probably dmca this.

Ship of Harkinian is SOOOO good. I started it recently and installed high resolution textures. I can’t believe someone redid the entire world, and I can toggle between original and super HD with a button.

Oh god, I really hope Sega Rally 2 works with Lutris on Linux. I've been looking for a good rally game since I can't get Richard Burns Rally working on my Linux setup.

There are some good indie rally games like Art of Rally if you haven't tried those already.

I have tried Art of Rally, for some reason though it runs like trash on my computer. The game that does run for me right now is New Star GP which is a fun F1-style game. I also play Colin McRae 2 for PS1 through retroarch which nearly scratches the rally itch, but damn Richard Burns Rally really spoiled me especially with the shear amount of community support and content. One of these days I'm just going to have to go down the wine troubleshooting rabbit hole and get it running, there's really nothing like it.

There's also Old School Rally which tries to mimic the PS1 Colin McRae style. Yeah, New Star GP is a really fun game, there's a new similar game called Formula Legends but I've heard the handling in that is bad and it's clearly unfinished.

I have to say RBR isn't necessarily that easy to get running on a Windows machine, the joys of it being a 20+ year old game :yea:

Huh, hadn't heard of Old School Rally. I'll have to check it out. Yeah, New Star is fun, but I do find the crew management stuff boring and slightly tedious. Overall it's a solid racer. I did notice on the expert difficulty I was just getting smoked no matter how good I was driving, so I bet the crew management and upgrade stuff is even more necessary for playing elswise I have no clue how expert is winnable. Formula Legends sounds familiar but I couldn't tell you where I heard about it from.

Actually RBR is super easy to get running on a Win machine now using the Rally Sim Fan's version of RBR here: https://www.rallysimfans.hu/rbr/download.php?download=rsfrbr

In the last half dozen times I've never had an issue on Windows and it has great community support for mods and online play. Seriously, if you haven't tried it I highly recommend it, seriously the GOAT rally sim even twenty years later. There's also a couple other modern implementations of RBR as well that update the graphics and provide other tools too.

My dilemma is I only run Linux yhese days and am too lazy to implement a dual boot for just one game when 80+% of stuff works just fine for me through Lutris....although I have been tempted to because RBR, especially yhe Rally Sim Fan version, is just that damn good.

I haven't paid much attention to that game since it came out of early access, so I'll have to pay more attention to it.

Yeah, I've installed the game in the past but the control setup can be a handful. I recently got a large SATA SSD that can hold much of the mod content made for that game, so we'll see how much I feel like downloading.

Oh yeah, getting the RBR setup to detect the right and left triggers as seperate can be a pain I remember, but as far as I know even that has a fix now.
