im confused why they would even brag that 30% of their code was written by ai
even if it worked immaculately, they’re just saying “we didnt work on this very hard”. so why would anyone want to use it? i guess cause they have such an effective monopoly that they know the vast majority of pc users have no other option (as great as linux is your average person is afraid to even go looking in the file manager on windows so installing a whole new OS is realistically out of the question)
I think this kind of communication is mostly addressing their investors. The company has to convince the public that they are more productive than the competition (by using less labour power). They probably assume this messaging will not impact demand.
Nadella is a legit AI zealot who has tied every aspect of Microsoft (mandating AI use, forcing it into every aspect of their business, closing or cutting any section of the company that isn't making fistfuls of cash he can immediately use to pour into inflating the AI bubble) to just dumping cash into the AI bubble in an attempt to either completely capture a future market or (more likely) get the world's largest bailout when the bubble pops. The man brags about how he basically only interacts with his colleagues and even family via dozens of AI chatbots.
