I remember someone pointing out that carnists get offended if you say livestock animals are treated like Holocaust victims, but nobody bats an eye if you say that Holocaust victims were treated like livestock.
because the word order works like this. "[situation ]is so bad, [superior] is treated like [inferior]!" that's just what that sentence means
Even outside of Holocaust comparisons, there are phrases such as ”treated like cattle” that everyone thinks are totally normal
