Can men not be kiddie diddlers for five fucking seconds?!

[-] Cysioland@lemmygrad.ml 20 points 1 week ago

This shit makes me feel like most straight cis men are inherently pedos, given that if they get to do pedo shit with impunity they go for it immediately

Like it's hard to get a gauge on if this is an extreme minority that's just very vocal or if it represents most men, if so then, jesus.

I think it’s mostly a cultural issue. The media (owned and operated by wealthy pedophiles) glamorizes and reinforces it. As a boy, I remember men my current age talking about girls in high school and shit, and I can’t imagine seeing them as anything but children now that I am this age.

I don’t mean to imply I’m special, but I think rejecting mainstream ameriKKKan culture (and leaving reddit-logo especially) helped a lot.

Nah its definitely a decent chunk of straight men, sorry. Before the 2010s - there was a very widespread acceptance of teens dating young adults to adults, even growing up in the 2010s some of my classmates had boyfriends that were like 18 to 25 or so, yes even the parents knew about it, and they were only 13 to 15.

Even with celebrities back then you had 28 year old Jay Z dating 16 year olkd Beyonce, 30-something Paul Walker dating a 17 year old, 39 year old Jerry Seinfeld dating a 17 year old... The list goes on

It was completely normalized to a degree people have kinda forgotten.

Not so long ago it was common for men in their 20s to 40s to marry ~15 years old girls in western societies and it isn't much different in other parts of the world. It wouldn't be surprising if a considerable portion of men today still find teenage girls attractive. Many see women "at their prime" when they are around 18 and >25 is already old.

Spend enough time around all-men groups and you'll hear them saying the most heinous shit about women. It's like their brains paused their development at their adolescence when it comes to sexuality. Of course "not all men", etc. but when they get involved in a group that encourages this behavior most choose to go along with it. I've heard enough distasteful pedo "jokes" and comments to say for sure at least half of them would have sex with a minor if they could get away with it.

I remember working with a guy in his 60s at a marathon type event and he made a comment about some girls in athletic gear who were probably 16-18 and I guess he expected me to be like "hell yeah brother" or something because he seemed shocked when I responded to him with disgust that they were probably born when he was 35.

I'm a cis guy and yeah, so much this

I think it's fundamentally a consequence of the sort of entitlement and predatory outlook most men have towards whomever they're attracted to. Like I see this core undercurrent that seeps into absolutely everything with a lot of them, where it's like this libertine chauvinist entitlement where everything and everyone must be subordinated to their own desires whether this is media treats or people. You can also see this in action with how absolutely weird and rabid they get about gooner shit in games or TV shows.

This means that when they're attracted to someone, that person's own agency doesn't really play into it except as something that can get in their way. They look at adult women (or young men, for some of them) this way, and since the key problem with an adult having a relationship with a teen is the latter's comparatively limited agency and life experience they can't comprehend that actual problem and instead see the risk to themselves from legal or other community consequences as the real problem. So they do "legal" entitled gooner shit or try to do "legal" groomer shit to their chosen target, breathlessly awaiting the time when the law no longer gets in between them and their desires.

I think that's also why a certain type of guy is so very insistent on splitting hairs between pedophilia (as colloquially used to refer to the crime of an adult preying on minors) and pedophilia (the specific psychiatric disorder of being attracted to prepubescent children): they see their own attraction to and feelings of entitlement towards teens as "normal, but illegal" and are very offended by being lumped in with icky "disordered" people; they don't see the problem as violating someone's agency and consent, so they view the law as the problem in one case (it can hurt them if they break it) and the ickiness they feel in the other, rather than the unifying problem that minors cannot legitimately consent and lack a great deal of personal and legal agency with children just being an even more extreme subcategory of this with them being unable to reciprocate or consent and having even less agency.

The Hexbear Code of Conduct and Terms of Service apply here.

  1. Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

  2. Content warnings: Posts on the newscomm and top-level replies on the newsmega should use content warnings appropriately. Please be thoughtful about wording and triggers when describing awful things in post titles.

  3. Fake news: No fake news posts ever, including April 1st. Deliberate fake news posting is a bannable offense. If you mistakenly post fake news the mod team may ask you to delete/modify the post or we may delete it ourselves.

  4. Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

  5. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

  6. Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

  7. American politics: Discussion and effort posts on the (potential) material impacts of American electoral politics is welcome, but the never-ending circus of American Politics© Brought to You by Mountain Dew™ is not welcome. This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

  8. Electoralism: Please try to avoid struggle sessions about the value of voting/taking part in the electoral system in the West. c/electoralism is right over there.

  9. AI Slop: Don't post AI generated content. Posts about AI race/chip wars/data centers are fine.
