I never got that vibe, given that they hang out at a bar in the evenings.
I feel like this might be a small town / less affluent town thing. I always just assumed some of the young people in Stardew have that slightly arrested development and same living situation as they would as teenagers like lots of people who grew up in the country or towns that were hard to get out of do.
makes sense, even if they wanted to move out there aren't any apartments to rent, and barely any jobs. just live with your dad and work part time at walmart while waiting for your music project to make it (it won't)
