If it's leftist, why aren't there paragraphs of texts explaining it thoroughly with multiple embedded sources?

Embedded sources? That's revisionist bs. Real ones do it with footnotes that take more real estate than the actual content.

Most of the books I started learning philosophy from, and some of the critical literature I read at an early age was so heavy on the footnotes that it made me very fond of them.

I don't know what some people are doing in literary criticism where they just add numbers and then you have to read the notes section at the end of the chapter. I don't have that kind of memory.
