Professional sports are state sponsored to promote patriotism. Sports leagues are made to empower and legitimize people like Trump.

As a European, I disagree hard on this. Sports is mostly about community, local clubs and entertainment for the 9-5 worker. To have something that takes away the thoughts of the housing loan, ensurance bills, health, kids, job, etc.

Well, I thought the bread circuses side was so obvious it wasn't worth a mention. Docile and irrationally in support of the state is the kind of people sports are made to make.
