Why did she? Seems like a case of FAFO.
Did you know that recruiters LIE?
Imagine being broke and struggling through college. You get an email from a recruiter - they have access to the university’s entire mailing of course - telling you that all you have to do is show up to a few weeks of boot camp, and do drill on the weekend.
You’re 18, and don’t know that recruiters are not just allowed to sell you up the river, but encouraged to. It seems like a nice alternative to student loan hell debt and living off jars of peanut butter.
I do ASVAB prep occasionally, which I have mixed feelings about, and have a client who I’ve just gotten to being able to borrow when subtracting. Do you think he’s equipped to make an intelligent choice when a recruiter promises him the world?
Seems like a case of bait-and-switch.
She was a reservist, meaning she was told she'd be training on weekends and working her regular job during the week. It should be illegal to send reservists to these wars of choice, but Dubya changed that during the War on Terror because no one wanted to go to Iraq and Afghanistan to die.
And I'm not comfortable blaming the soldiers just yet, when all the evidence we have is that the military and joint chiefs (sans Keg-Breath) told Donald not to do this and he told them to fuck themselves and did it anyway.
In this day and age, if you sign up for the military you know there is a high chance you will be sent to a foreign country that did nothing to us to kill brown children to distract from the fact that our leaders are raping other children.
Or you would know it if the USA wasn't the most propagandized place on the face of the earth.
Being sent to staff a base and being sent to a war are two totally different things. (At least until February 2026)
The military itself opposed this, and that's in the public record. This president has a record of avoiding wars and disentangling the US from them, especially in Syria and Afghanistan. (Which, ironically, Dems opposed even though these wars had lasted decades.)
Iran and Venezuala are, rightly, unexpected, and if you're blaming reservists for their deaths then you're the one who's propagandized in this case. Can't exactly blame someone for dying in a war when all of the information they have is that it's (relatively) safe to be a US soldier and they can't read a demented person's mind.
No, but you can blame them having a complete lack of moral character and for being completely, and willfully, ignorant of what their job entails.
Yeah I'm not excusing a hired killer because they thought it was a low chance anyone would ever successfully shoot back.
