Significant strike. Each one of these that bite the dust means 5-10 less planes raining bombs on Tehran. Iran has excellent targeting prioritization, much better than going after schoolchildren.

[-] yogthos@lemmy.ml 49 points 6 days ago

You can really tell they've planned this out. They took out all the early warning systems in the first days, and now they're hunting these high value targets.

[-] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 20 points 6 days ago

Well when you're up against ZERO FUCKING PLAN being enacted by the world's dumbest and most arrogant leader on your own home turf... It's kind of hard to lose, I imagine.

[-] Eldritch@piefed.world 3 points 5 days ago

Certainly not impossible. But those easily embarrassed are easy to embarrass for sure. That absolutely checks out.

[-] Typotyper@sh.itjust.works 22 points 6 days ago

Russia is also coaching them and providing live target info.

[-] yogthos@lemmy.ml 12 points 6 days ago

they do have a lot of experience with US tactics over the past for years they can pass on

[-] reagansrottencorpse@lemmy.ml 13 points 6 days ago

I love that for them.

[-] Bloomcole@lemmy.world 11 points 6 days ago

And LOL at the western hypocrites crying about it.
They can train, arm, fund and send 'advisors' to the ukro's but Russia giving some satellite info is bad.

[-] WoodScientist@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

Eh. I can oppose both Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the US/Israel war on Iran. It's not about which team you're on. It's about backing the country being invaded and attacked.

I can oppose both Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the US/Israel war on Iran.

Two enormous armies in a proxy war on foreign soil is nightmarish for the people forced to endure. All so that the Pentagon and the Russian MOD can have a dick swinging contest without touching tips.

But there's this insane Westoid reasoning that says Total War is fine when we do it. It only becomes a crime when anyone else cribs from our notebooks.

[-] Bloomcole@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago

Many people can, but apparently politicians and their media mouthpieces dogmatically defend their US masters.

[-] mirshafie@europe.pub 5 points 5 days ago

They never cared about international law or right and wrong. It was always just a tool to bludgeon the other team with, and now that the tool is turning against them they're dropping it like a broken toy.

[-] Bloomcole@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago

Many people still believed their BS about 'the rules based order'.
I know it's a lie but still was shocked to hear some EU 'leaders' blatantly say international law doesn't apply to Iran.
After condoning the genocide in Gaza they now defend the illegal war and mass murder of children in Iran.
How can these loathsome turds look in the mirror.

[-] orc_princess@lemmy.ml 6 points 5 days ago

It was easier to pretend before because they would condemn the US publicly but if you paid attention to what they were doing they were also there committing war crimes together. It sucks but it's the truth, Europe only cared about this rhetoric as a means to an end, it gives a facade of being the grown up, but now that the US got a less subtle leader it's impossible for them to keep plausible deniability and be loyal at the same time.

[-] Bloomcole@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

That is accurate.
People since forever have fallen for the rhetoric of politicians.
If you separate the words from the actions and facts you get a different story.
Even I, with my ample mistrust and scepticism almost fell for this 'rift' or whatever they call it between the US/EU.
One of Trump's unreasonable demands was for the EU to pay vastly more for 'defense'.
Which is basically supporting US merchants of death and only used in support of their imperialism when they need it.
Before, everyone barely and grudgingly coughed up their 2%.
And what happened then?
Some arguing and theater about the US not going to 'help' us anymore and our leaders deciding we should have our own defense.
The result is exactly what Trump wanted.
Well played.

I think a lot of Europeans genuinely believe in human rights and a rules-based world order. And it would serve their interests too (in a multipolar world, having rules that apply to all is favorable to all). But they're also cowards and want the USA to be world police and uphold this order, and it has always been convenient to look the other way as long as it was brown people on the receiving end of the Empire's violence.

[-] Bloomcole@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

I think a lot of Europeans genuinely believe in human rights and a rules-based world order.

Most people in the world have that view.

But you are mistaking the people for our EU vassal sell-out leaders here:

But they’re also cowards and want the USA to be world police

Our population is vastly against most of the US wars.
We know we're going to pay for it, first literally and later when we get 100000's of refugees they caused.

Our 'leaders' go along because it keeps the system in place of getting the crumbs from the US loot.
They don't care about the people and consequences for them.
If they refuse, as in Iran's case, it is indeed out of cowardice and the negative consequences for themselves economically.

Our economies are already in a huge crisis because of the sanctions on Russia, we suffer and the US profits from selling us expensive fracking gas.

They can not take more problems by joining this war.

[-] mirshafie@europe.pub 3 points 5 days ago

You're right, I should have been more explicit that I don't count our amoeba EU leaders as people.

[-] Eldritch@piefed.world 5 points 5 days ago

The west has no monopoly on hypocrites. But this is certainly the rightful. finding out phase of an octogenarian toddler's fucking around.

[-] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

Why wouldn't they? We did the same for Ukraine. They get to inflict the same kind of attrition on US forces that we intended to inflict on them during their own disastrous operations.

[-] Maeve@kbin.earth 9 points 5 days ago

I'm guessing three quarters of a decade dealing with the Great Satan was a hard study session that paid phenomenal dividends, to use the only parlance Westerners relate to.

[-] Squizzy@lemmy.world 16 points 6 days ago

The habit of a lifetime for yankee pedo in chief.

Each one of these that bite the dust means 5-10 less planes raining bombs on Tehran.

These aren't just bombers. They're part of the air force's command and control structure. You fly one of these planes at high altitude and use it to command a fleet of fighter-bombers. Losing five of them functionally puts dozens of more basic aircraft out of commission.
