There is no draft, they volunteered.
The USA encourages young people to do that by keeping them in poverty and ignorance. So it's kind of voluntary but not exactly freely chosen.
Not an excuse. Not even in the slightest. You don't get to kill people to feed yourself. Would you defend poor people joining gangs and cartels?
Isn't that called "backing the blue"?
I, for one, am glad that Iran is discouraging young people from enlisting.
This is exactly why they target low income communities for recruitment. Someone who is down and out is a far better target for recruitment.
