Pretending to be poly to save on rent and get an XL couch
$1570 a month is also pretty hefty. Is the place massive or are they looking for someone to subsidize costs.
Probably includes maintenance on the XL couch though
For real. That is more than our mortgage and we split it.
If this is really in the Bay Area like someone here suggested, this seems about average to rent a room over there. I just checked on Zillow.

In central Florida it's not uncommon to see 1 bedrooms and even studios priced a little under 1.6k, so if it's a huge mcmansion with your own bedroom and the cost includes utilities that seems about right.
I imagine this is common in many urban and nearby suburban areas across the country.
