As an actual poly person I really hope this is a joke because holy fuck this is one of the most toxic sounding polycules I've ever heard of. It sounds like a fucking cult not a polycule

[-] Kuori@hexbear.net 69 points 1 week ago

defector

yeah that's a cult alright

[-] porous_grey_matter@lemmy.ml 63 points 1 week ago

i'm not saying it is real, but this is really believable for bay area rationalists unfortunately

my polycule always walks in 4:3 formation, because any group should have more more melee brawlers than ranged DPS in a typical, urban environment.

[-] segfault11@hexbear.net 61 points 1 week ago

my polycule walks in 4:3 aspect ratio to prevent distortion from stretching

Pretending to be poly to save on rent and get an XL couch

[-] CatoPosting@hexbear.net 51 points 1 week ago

$1570 a month is also pretty hefty. Is the place massive or are they looking for someone to subsidize costs.

[-] hexaflexagonbear@hexbear.net 26 points 1 week ago

Probably includes maintenance on the XL couch though

[-] tacosanonymous@mander.xyz 24 points 1 week ago

For real. That is more than our mortgage and we split it.

[-] Cricket@lemmy.zip 23 points 1 week ago

If this is really in the Bay Area like someone here suggested, this seems about average to rent a room over there. I just checked on Zillow.

"Making coffee" isn't a hobby lol

[-] fox@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago

Look pal it's either getting really into single origin light roast coffee and increasingly esoteric ways to get the caffeine from it, or it's like. Bouldering. Or cycling. White boys need hobbies too

This is obviously problematic but part of me can't help but appreciate they have a charter

[-] ElChapoDeChapo@hexbear.net 35 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Yeah I can disagree with a lot of the choices here but the organization skills are genuinely impressive

[-] came_apart_at_Kmart@hexbear.net 35 points 1 week ago

there are few things more erotic than a shared googlesheet for scheduling whose turn it is to ovsynch and conceive for gestation and who gets to dry off and recover after weaning.

The age question has me imagining a polycule that just keeps changing over time as members bald and age out, a true relationship of theseus

[-] Keld@hexbear.net 29 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Oh I know a thing like that. Well it's not technically a polycule, but there's a commune near here that is also kind of a polycule that only allows people between certain ages or students (Including grad students) so they kind of have a polycule of Theseus going.

Sorry, I only get involved with polycules who walk in a nickel formation

[-] came_apart_at_Kmart@hexbear.net 26 points 1 week ago

my last polycule would manuever around the park in the Power I. great for the running game, but lots of potential for misdirection, screens, and option plays.

then one of our TEs got traded to miami and we fell apart, chalking it up to a rebuilding year.

When I was 18, I visited a hairdresser to get a nice cut for prom, I was a boy at the time. She told me my hair wouldn't make it to 30. She was right agony-deep

There are many reasons to hate "rationalists", but them doing polyam like this is a big one for me

I promise that most of us are not like this

Preferred height range rules out 50% of AMAB and 60% of AFAB people. Of course, if this were real.
