I don't know what this really is about but I've had a cat that had super inflamed teeth and couldn't eat solid food. Medication didn't help so he had to get them pulled which killed him. He was about 15 years old though.

My sister has a much younger cat with the same disease. Got her teeth pulled as well but survived and seems happy now.
