unfortunately lemmy already has those people, but luckily enough they seem to organize in tidy communities that are easy to defederate
True. I should have started my post with “The rampant proliferation of…”
AFAIK they weren't bad folks, they just didn't want to deal with the surge of new users.
They closed up in order to avoid mistakenly accepting bigots into the fold. Nothing wrong with leaving a safe space to its own devices, as long as it isn’t bothering anyone else.
Yeah, that was the #1 reason they gave. There weren’t enough mods to keep up with the sudden workload.
