i always feel like we should bring back the cool secret societies that did mutual aid and smuggled people out of being lynched/ from slavery but someone would tweet about it instantly. i know there are a few but they aren't secret anymore its just regular mutual aid, boring wheres the flair and crime! then again what if there are secret societies but I dont get invited :(. freemasons are weird though.

Secret societies used to be either

  • nationalists funded by aristocrats and oligarchs
  • communists funded by newspapers and class traitors
  • trade unions that devolved to stage four simulacra
  • fascists funded by capitalists

secret societies have been a huge part of black history after the end of slavery, they did mutual aid, stuff the government was supposed to do, education, ect. my FAVORITE story is the one about how the colored knights of pyris sent in white passing black people in to infiltrate the white secret societies. black secret societies were often but not always organized through churches and relied on expensive membership fees anD newspapers and donations. they were actually really important to the civil rights movement.

heres a cool article

i dont have any of the stuff i learned about them from my african american history class but we talked about them and their parallels to precolonial African secret societies. pretty cool.

stage four simulacra had to google that lol, you mean to say they were disconnected from reality?
