Welcome to c/news! We aim to foster a book-club type environment for discussion and critical analysis of the news. Our policy objectives are:

Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

I would say that arming, training, funding, and directly supporting Nazis is fascism
A crime of which the majority of social democrats are not guilty, something even acknowledged by Zinoviev as he outlined the theory. Not every social democrat is Noske, that's not the point, the contention is that once conflict comes the social democrat will either sit it out or join reaction.
That's still an ideological position. You can't separate action and thought like that. If you decide that it is better to support X than Y then you have made a judgement between X and Y.
Mussolini and Maurras both critiqued national socialist theory as corruptions of right wing social theory born of an ignorant mind, both chose to support Hitler over mainline conservatism.
The argument from Zinoviev and Stalin was that the desire for peaceful transition was stronger in Social Democrats than their desire for transition, and so when the chips are down they would either stay out of the conflict or join the fascists. As such social democrats should be treated as moderate fascists. As fascist aligned. Not because their policies were the same (Although some post facto justification has since been made about how social democratic reforms forestall revolution) but because when conflict would come they would not be on the communist side. (Although even Zinoviev makes a big damn separator between the average social democrat and Noske, something the current adherents of social fascism don't, because nobody reads)

Sure. Which is reason #94856 why its funny to see people who support this theory get bent out of shape when you call Russia fascist.
But also, calling right wing forces against the revolution isn't special. Its not special to say that Ford isn't gonna be on the barricades. But it is noteworthy that people who ostensibly support the socialist project will find themselves aligned with arch reaction because they are more committed to preventing revolutionary violence than they are to socialist ideals to the extent that they would rather accept reactionary violence.
I think there is a minor matter of wording that causes a lot of the argument here. Fascism is one wing and SocDems are the other. SocDems are not fascists, they are part of the larger body of capitalism that fascists are also part of and therefore will side with fascists when the body is threatened.
