What is geoscience?
Geoscience (also called Earth Science) is the study of Earth. Geoscience includes so much more than rocks and volcanoes, it studies the processes that form and shape Earth's surface, the natural resources we use, and how water and ecosystems are interconnected. It's true that there is huge inertia (transfer of heat and carbon from surface to deep ocean, and melting ice), also 'cascading events', but after decades of research these are mostly baked into the model projections. Below 1.5C seems very hard now, but well below 2C is certainly doable. What's not so baked in, is society inertia - 'not even trying until ...', that we have to change.
