Israel trying to pass the hospital bombing off as Palestine doing it is utterly disgusting and guarantees Netanyahu a spot in the deepest pit of Hell for all eternity, obviously, but do not forget that
a) the only reason why Westerners will believe it is because they want to believe it - they are not being brainwashed and this is not some masterful propaganda being weaved around us to turn kind-hearted people into monsters,
b) no Westerner opinions matter at all. In most Western countries there is no real anti-Israel option to vote for even if they did realize that Israel was a giant factory for crimes against humanity, and Westerners protesting against things in general almost never achieves anything (tens of millions protested for BLM in 2020 and not only did the situation not change, it got worse), and
c) the people whose opinions do matter (both the people in the region, and the leaders who aren't already Zionist compradors) already know that Israel is full of shit and that they just murdered nearly a thousand civilians in a single bomb attack.
It is despair-inducing to think that the genocidal Zionist entity is so brazenly, so smugly getting away with bullshitting this away into a cloud of confusion, as they release their metaphorical squid ink just like they did with the stupid babies story, but the propaganda and the media narrative that they are creating isn't what matters. It cannot address the fundamental contradictions ripping the country, the region, and the world apart any more than masterfully-applied makeup can fix a stab wound. It can merely obfuscate.

i must confess i don't fully understand the dynamics that make some national catholic churches more 'normal' and acceding to the vatican's lines, while others like the US' are very insurgent.
I think that if the USA had been built on Catholic values, things would have been different. They would probably have had better relations with the natives and with Latin America. I do still think they would have been as racist as they were on our timeline, but maybe they would have adopted Blanqueamiento like Mexico and Brazil instead of racial segregation.
Another thing is that, without the US being a Protestant superpower, these churches would never have influenced the Global South as they do today, usually by promoting anti-LGBT laws in Africa and Latin America.
If the US were a Catholic country, it would essentially be less capitalist and selfish (both things that the Catholic Church usually hates), perhaps the American people would be more favorable to left-wing tendencies. As for politics, I think there would be at least one popular Socdem party instead of two Neoliberal parties.
I think that's because these people are generally of Italian, Irish and Latin American descent, having learned Catholicism from their parents or grandparents. And they're very proud of it, because it's something that connects them to their roots, family or something like that. When the Vatican changes something to be more liberal, they get angry because they have spent most of their lives following the rules they were taught by their relatives, only to see them changed to something else.
Or maybe Catholics in the US just want to compete with weird evangelicals over who is the worst bible-thumper in the world.
i know Ferdinando and Isabella are called the catholic monarchs but latin american racial theory is pretty incidental to the specific conditions of iberia (expulsions of the moors and jews), and i think the population density of indigenous people played a role as well. the english worked out their racial theories in Ireland... but mostly on the basis they were catholic so this thought experiment is getting confusing. the French also didn't do race the english way, but i can't confidently say if that's catholicism or piggy-backing spain.
besides that, i think one of the important aspects in the development "of less capitalist and selfish (both things that the Catholic Church usually hates" character of modern catholic countries were the mass movements in these countries (and massive violence) against the institution, which forced it to be less reactionary. vatican 2 never would've happened without the mexican revolution or spanish civil war (or portuguese/spainsh liberal civil wars). which does give me a delightful image of yankees burning catholic churches in a non-racist way

There's some pretty profound differences between Catholic evil and Protestant evil, and speaking extremely generally Catholic ideology doesn't demand they bake the earth to death for the glory of the market. Catholicism is evil but it's not "Threat to all life on earth" evil the way Prots and especially Christian Fascists are.
