Please don't bring your cringy atheist edgelordism here. حسبي الله و نعم الوكيل cannot be translated so plainly into English, and I was contemplating editing the image to remove it from the English. They are not thanking anyone for anything, it's a call to god to protect them from oppression and terror, although it's much more basal than it sounds in English. Sure sure religion cringe whatever, but to say this in response to this post... with all respect, not your soapbox.
Their entire family just got murdered and their faith clearly comforts them and helps them believe it's not all for nothing. Maybe this isn't the appropriate time to apply atheism.
"I am yet too young to understand that God is any respecter of persons. I believe that to have interfered as I have done...in behalf of His despised poor, was not wrong, but right. Now, if it is deemed necessary that I should forfeit my life for the furtherance of the ends of justice, and mingle my blood further with the blood of my children, and with the blood of millions in this slave country whose rights are disregarded by wicked, cruel, and unjust enactments, I submit: so let it be done!" ~ John Brown

dude shut the fuck up
debatelording the genocide victim because they aren't an enlightened euphoric atheist
without the benefit of hindsight, you would 100% be saying this to Jews who thanked god after being liberated from concentration camps. Of course, unless the problem you take with this arises from western chauvinism, which is worse.
In this moment, I am euphoric. Not because of any phony god's blessing. But because, I am enlightened by my intelligence.
"This court acknowledges, as I suppose, the validity of the Law of God. I see a book kissed here which I suppose to be the Bible, or at least the New Testament [which] teaches me that, “All things whatsoever I would that men should do to me, I should do even so to them.” It teaches me, further, to “Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them.” I endeavored to act up to that instruction." - John Brown, before he was executed
It was in a church service that John Brown dedicated his life to the destruction of slavery.
