Try putting kidney beans in the air fryer for a crunchy topping or snack.
Okay I haven't tried this. Is it basically puffed kidney beans? Liked puffed rice? Is this actually good or is this part of the bit because I would totally try this
I think that puffing requires high pressure, sort of like a pressure cooker, to achieve except in the case of popcorn because it's capable of achieving a similar level of pressurisation through the kernel that you'd get from a pressure cooker.
In the air fryer I'd expect them to come out like those roasted chickpea snacks that you can sometimes get.
They don't puff up, but I think they're pretty good with a roasted crunch. Make sure to rinse them, then add salt and a bit of oil. Afterwards you can cover them in seasoning or sauce.
Alright well this does sound delicious and is maybe kidney beans only redeeming quality. Keep them out of my soup though bleh
Yes! Recently I've been having tons of bean wraps with air fried beans covered in hot sauce and mixed with fresh onion, tomatoes, and lettuce. The beans gain a somewhat substantial texture, so they aren't just mush lol
Dry kidney beans or cooked/canned/soaked?
I do this with canned beans. Just drain the tin, rinse the beans, and toss them in the air fryer for 10-12 minutes with salt and oil.
If I was less lazy I would probably soak my own dried beans and cook them and whatever but eh
So like, eat them like salted roasted peanuts?
I like to coat them in chili lime first, but yeah.
