They're predator species iirc? (Or I'm getting my terminology wrong) but this is a good sign of the health of the river! That means the ecosystem can support 🥰

Don't worry, it should be OK. You can still find monitor lizards in the Klang River even with the otters around.

You’ll be surprised how animals can survive in the most dirty rivers/longkangs lol as long as the pollution is not from harsh chemicals. Just last week I noticed how the big storm drain behind Kajang wet market (super smelly as all kinds of rubbish from the pasar gets dumped into it every day) is full of large tilapia fish.

I'm not lmao calls up the Jurassic Park quote - for these otters in particular tho, it's like seeing wolves in the American wild e.g. Yellowstone Park. It's a good sign to see apex predators in previously depleted ecosystem, iirc.
