Wait what the hell Trump’s back on the Colorado ballot rn too after appealing? What the fuck is even going on anymore? Is this our Gorbachev arc? concerned-confusion

Is this our Gorbachev arc?

Trump already made the Pizza Hut commercial. It's over. sad-boi

[-] axont@hexbear.net 38 points 2 years ago

no that's how it works. The appeal means the Colorado Supreme Court's 4-3 decision to remove Trump gets put on pause. It goes to the Federal Supreme Court now, who can choose to hear it or dismiss it. If they dismiss it, it means Trump's off the ballot in Colorado for good, then probably a bunch of other states would remove Trump or Biden willynilly depending on who the governor is

Biden willynilly depending on who the governor is

Technically they can't do the same thing with Biden. He's a war criminal, but Trump actually committed something that is considered a crime in many states and they will and can ban him for that.

What crime are the Republicans going to ban Biden for, giving money to Ukraine? Even if they do that, the ban is going to get repealed quickly. I think most Trump voters will go to RFK jr. which would be the funniest shit to happen in an election in a long time.

lol like facts matter in the exercise of power

They would get Biden on some kind of procedural issue like signing documents wrong. If they really wanted to be fun they'd argue Biden allows election interference from Israel, but that would probably alienate all the Republicans who take AIPAC money.

Point is that it wouldn't matter. They can say anything they want and manufacture whatever consent they please.

The only thing stopping Republicans from doing anything is the whims of capital. If capital would prefer Biden is removed from the ballot in some states, then it would happen .

This would be so fucking funny

Obama, Brezhnev - Popular leader who under-delivered and kept the country stagnant and slowly rotting from the inside.

Trump, Andropov - Reformer with some controversial views, known for promoting [Gorbachev] into government; disliked by the ruling elite and didn't stay in office long.

Biden, Chernenko - Old and ill from day 1, but the favorite of the ruling elite. Had grand plans to return the country to previous success, but failed spectacularly at actually doing stuff and at the end of their rule, the population was slowly turning hostile toward the government

This is bullshit analysis and a stretch.

No it’s completely factually grounded (source: it’s funny)

Wait then which Trump Acolyte is most likely to not give a shit about The American Project to the point where they’re openly fine with it imploding

No idea, I'm not American so I only know the funniest and worst of the bozos.

Also, Gorbachev was kind of a fool instead of actively malicious - he had idealistic illusions of a social democratic USSR. However, he surrounded himself with liberals that knew what they were doing, grifters and those that were in it hoping to become the new Bourgeoise.

You just need someone foolish enough to do just that, and maybe even Trump 2 is gonna be enough for that - assuming he is allowed to get into power and win.

Newcomm and Newsmega Rules:

The Hexbear Code of Conduct and Terms of Service apply here.

  1. Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

  2. Content warnings: Posts on the newscomm and top-level replies on the newsmega should use content warnings appropriately. Please be thoughtful about wording and triggers when describing awful things in post titles.

  3. Fake news: No fake news posts ever, including April 1st. Deliberate fake news posting is a bannable offense. If you mistakenly post fake news the mod team may ask you to delete/modify the post or we may delete it ourselves.

  4. Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

  5. Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

  6. Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

  7. American politics: Discussion and effort posts on the (potential) material impacts of American electoral politics is welcome, but the never-ending circus of American Politics© Brought to You by Mountain Dew™ is not welcome. This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

  8. Electoralism: Please try to avoid struggle sessions about the value of voting/taking part in the electoral system in the West. c/electoralism is right over there.

  9. AI Slop: Don't post AI generated content. Posts about AI race/chip wars/data centers are fine.
