Fun fact: reddit volunteer mods (most of which have now been directly or indirectly forced away by the Speznaz) did a hell of a lot better at moderating than the paid ones at Facebook, twitter and current reddit.

This might be hard for you to believe if you're American, but sometimes caring about a community and by extension about keeping it well-functioning is a better motivator than being an underpaid and overworked employee.
