We should kill all known nazis and pedophiles, and it wouldnt even be that hard to find them.

[-] smackjack@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago

"We should kill all _____" kind of sounds like something a Nazi would say.

[-] OceanSoap@lemmy.ml 4 points 10 months ago

Especially since no one can agree on what that word covers. I've heard people say all Republicans are nazis.

[-] ryathal@sh.itjust.works 4 points 10 months ago

It's actually really simple. Anyone I disagree with is a nazi.

[-] RIP_Cheems@lemmy.world -1 points 10 months ago

Well, would you rather kill the man who killed 6 million jews or be apart if the cause that killed 6 million jews?

[-] EnderMB@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

There is a huge grey area here, for both cases:

  • What about pedophiles that don't act on it, and want to seek help?
  • What about indoctrination, for both sides? Some people grow up with nazis, or take the views of their community. The same goes for people that go through extreme grooming.
  • What is the point of prison if you do not believe in reform? In a place where people that touch kids or harm women are basically "stab on sight", what hope is there of reform?

I think both need extensive research, and need to be treated for what they are - extreme mental illnesses. Those that act on their delusions should be punished by the law, but those that seek change should be rehabilitated where possible.

[-] RIP_Cheems@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

And I don't disagree with that, what I think should be done is those who wish to change that part of themselves or truly question if what they support is wrong should seek help and be rehabilitated. But as for those who show no mercy or guilt in any capacity should be killed and/or locked away forever. What should be done is separation of reform and jail because we are treating jail as both a place you will never escape and a place where if you improve you can leave.

Maybe just throwing them in jail would be better. If you want to prevent them from continuing, just getting them out of society would be easier and more likely to catch on.

[-] RIP_Cheems@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Except when it literally doesn't work. Take Mr swirl, for example, a pedophile who struck in multiple countries and was only in jail for 15 years.

[-] FractalsInfinite@sh.itjust.works 1 points 10 months ago

Then you throw them in jail for longer, or you put them under house arrest after they are done. The best course of action in the case of pedophiles is to move them to places where they can no longer attack children e.g. "Miracle" Village

[-] RIP_Cheems@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

I don't think you understand. A pedophile is gonna do everything in they're power to affect a child in some way. Give then house arrest? The buy cp. Take away they're internet privileges? They buy an untraceable one and still buy cp. Put them in jail? Unless it's life without parole there is still a chance they can get out. And the miracle village doesn't really deal with the problem so much as put it out of view, and sex offenders aren't required to go here as it explicitly states that it is a safe haven for them.

  1. If the goals of the prison system include prisoner reform and/or "scare streight" tactics, it is quite likely a large portion will be reformed by the time the get out
  2. If you're not tech savy it seems quite difficult to obtain CSAM/cp without getting caught, between the numerous fed honeypots, google reporting cp searches, the use of photodna on every major social media site, majorly increasing the risk of pedophiles getting caught
  3. Additionally sex regastars allow people to identify individuals who have in the past commuted such crimes, preventing them from accessing children
[-] RIP_Cheems@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

You can't beat or intimidate a sexual desire out of someone because it is literally hardwired into they're brain, people can learn to access parts of the internet like the dark web which the government has not yet figured out how to stop its existence, and even telling people isn't gonna eliminate the risk of it happening again because all it takes is one slip up or one minute for a child to be unattended.

[-] FractalsInfinite@sh.itjust.works 1 points 10 months ago
  1. Actually you can in fact reduce the desire to cpmmit sexual acts through classical conditioning and/or positive reinforcement, and it would be more efficacl then just killing them
  2. Additionally, most humans have empathy which can be used to show there actions were wrong, admittedly this will only work on some of them
  3. I agree, some would figure it out, but most would be caught or alternatively fear getting caught so much they don't try
  4. While the creation and "consumptiom" of CASM is just as abhorrent as the act itself, from a utilitarinist perspective "consumption" of such material, particually if gotten without exchanging anything, is much better then people trying to be fufilled instead by commiting sexual assault, as there are fewer victims involved.

To be be honest, I would be fine with imprisonment till old sentences or the house arrest equivalent. I would just rather not impose a death penitaly unless the person wants to die.

[-] RIP_Cheems@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

And just how a behavior can be formed through conditioning it can be destroyed through a change in behavior or disruption in schedule. These people do not have empath because they have shown it quite clearly and the ones who do either haven't done this and are hiding these felling or are seeking help, and for you to suggest that them consuming cp is better because less kids are hurt is both sickening and wrong. Kids are still abused and there will be constant changing demand for such content, meaning more kids would get abused.
