I tried watching the show and was almost immediately turned off; they keep mispronouncing his name, he's way out of character (very oddly childish too), and why are the powers so dramatically overpowered? They should've left it at the movie and called it a day, it didn't need a for kids adaptation.

Assuming you are not trolling. You got it backwards the movie came after the show. The movie underpowered everyone which was wierd. Combat was very clunky in the movie where bending is supposed to be martial art extension. The childish aspect was critical to his growth as a person since he is literally a kid that was born with the ability to level an army but was raised to be a pacifist.
