Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.
Rules:
-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --
-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --
-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --
-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --
-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--
-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--
-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --
-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --
I assure you he will have no issue finding private healthcare contractors to serve him at his home. He is not only obscenely rich, he's the fucking King. He could import them from Denmark or Costa Rica if he wanted to. This is a service that even the moderately rich (millionaires) can afford, the King of England is several orders of magnitude more resourced.
He'll have the cream of the crap, to be sure.
But, again, look at how guys like Steve Jobs and Herman Cain - people who died of preventable / treatable illnesses because they surrounded themselves with quacks and stuffed their brains with bullshit.
If health care was all I cared about, I would rather be a middle class schlub in Cuba or Spain than a millionaire in the UK right now.
the rich in capitalist core nations get better healthcare than the average person in any socialist nation. you need a reality check
I have never felt more correct
This doesn’t vindicate your point whatsoever. The king could easily afford standard advanced healthcare if he so chose. Him being a quack doesn’t change that.
I guarantee you that he's going to be paying out the nose for some guy to shove kumquat juice up his butt.
Hacking away at the domestic health care system and denuding the nation of educated, qualified physicians with the capacity to consistently deliver life-saving care means that Dr. Oz tier motherfuckers are going to fill in the gap you left behind.
Yes, it would be much nicer to live in a nation full of expert professional physicians who spend all day doing top tier medical treatments. And yes, he can afford to do that. But HE DIDN'T. He lives in a palace full of quacks that's in a city full of quacks that's in a country full of quacks. All because quacks are cheaper.
Say what you will about the Cuban medical system, but it is a product of the overall economy. It is a consequence of cumulative generational investment in top tier talent and the education to match. That Shit Cost Money. The benefits might be spread equitably, but the costs are still there - in hours of training and accumulation of materials and investment in blue sky research. Cuban health care isn't free, it is GDP. UK health care isn't, and that's why King Charles is fucked.
Health care in Cuba routinely surpasses anything you can get on the US Gulf Coast. The country's biomedical industry is world class and one of its primary exports is trained medical staffers.
There are a lot of things that Cuba lacks in terms of industrial infrastructure. They can't make primary steel or disposable plastics. They don't have access to chip fabricators or cheap electricity. But when it comes to health care, they've maxed that shit out and then some. Even American foreign policy makers recognizes as much and routinely try to lure over Cuban medical professionals every chance they get.
