heartbreaking

Although, the very term "third world country" has been so heavily dated. Both in the sense that it describes a Cold War Era that no longer exists and it denigrates a host of countries that have seen enormous economic improvement over the last thirty years. To describe a nation like South Africa or Brazil or India as "third world", you really need to ignore the dramatic scale of industrial growth that's taken place.

It has become notable in so far as African and Latin American professional migrant to the US often live orders of magnitude better than their American peers, simply because they received the benefit of "third world" social services such as health care and education. But then a generation later, their children and grandchildren have sunk back into the poverty that is the norm of Americans of the lower ethnic classes.

The "demise" Trump is describing is the consequence of the balkinization and neoliberal dissolution of these historically bedrock public amenities that once Made America Great. And I don't even think Trump's blind to that. I just think he's sold on the Ultra-Nationalist social theory that says you can only have subways and universities and city hospitals and fire departments if they've got big "Whites Only" signs hanging from the front of them.
