Am I the only one who began to hate wasting time on weekends? I am 28 and I have mostly wasted my time playing video games or watching TV shows earlier, but now I just can't do that, and if I don't spend time learning or working on something I am just stressed out.

To each their own. Just be sure it's making you happy.

I work to live, but I don't live to work.

Life is short and I thoroughly enjoy playing a video game without a care in the world. With a kid and a house, I have plenty on my plate. I don't go out of my way looking for extra work. If the opportunity arises for me to "waste time" I take it and enjoy it without guilt.

Last night I got to play Lethal Company with two of my friends. Most fun I've had in months. No regrets.

In the same boat as you, but hell yeah nothing wrong with “wasting time” playing video games with friends!

My wife and I moved across the country so I highly value playing video games with my friends from back home, we play with our webcams on in discord so it’s the closest I have to quality time, given our distance from each other

It could be a symptom of anxiety, specifically time anxiety. Feeling like you "have" to be working on something and relaxing is "wasting" time is a consequence of hustle/grind culture that is linked to broader economic anxiety.

Are you able to meaningfully measure how productive you actually are? Research into productivity has shown that resting properly in moderation is linked to more efficient work output.
