I had to fast forward or rewind a cassette tape to a specific time to play a game in the computer.

Did you just stick the pencil through and spin the tape round by shaking the pencil like a noise maker? Gotta slow down near the end of the tape or you stretch the tape where its attached to the reel.
yea I learned you need to be careful the hardway but there were definitely noise maker type rotations involved from time to time
Time stamps!? Why didn't I think of that? I just pressed play and FF at the same time, count the blank spaces. 10th program count 9 blanks. I was such an idiot at 14.
If it works, it's not dumb...
