Astro Awani's article worded it this way:

Sementara itu, PN turut mengambil langkah berani dengan menampilkan Pengerusi Pertubuhan Kebajikan ACT Malaysia (ACT), Muhammad Fazil Mohd Dali atau lebih dikenali sebagai Ayahanda Cik Ton di DUN Pandan Indah.

No mention of gangster or his past, but called it a "brave move". Here's a short feature on him in 2019 if people are interested.
