I don't know what to make of this, if it spreads by tainted meat it seems the risk is quite low, on the other hand if it's airborne well we know how that plays out

blob-no-thoughts Surly the goverment won't let it run rampant and unchecked. I mean, who would risk letting a rapidly mutating virus that is spreading between multiple different mammalian species go unchecked.

People who think the democrats would "follow the science" when a pandemic emerges are in for a surprise.

We'll be told to wash our hands.

We've had years to upgrade air filtration and ventilation in public buildings and offices and have barely done shit. If we got people to wear n95s in public we could stop most of the damage, but they absolutely will not spend the "political capital" to do so.

If anything, we'll encourage the spread to achieve "herd immunity".

It at least can jump between animals to farm workers, and is found in raw milk (barn cats drinking raw milk caught it). The venn diagram of raw milk drinkers and COVID anti-vaxxers is pretty much a circle, so they're not going to stop drinking raw milk and will not take any precautions to keep others safe if they do get sick.

The more infections, the more pressure for further mutations that increase spread amongst mammals, just like we saw with COVID -> omicron -> jn1.

unpasteurized milk is also a risk and theres definitely people drinking that. its not well adapted to human spread yet but letting it spread unchecked through the US's like 40 million cows and potentially other animals too, is a great way for it to acquire the mutations necessary to get a foothold in humans and start killing.

and its influenza... we already know it has that potential
