Socialism is the only path out of the global ecological crisis.
One thing I dont get is the point of it, of doomerism that is. While it is natural to feel overwhelmed and powerless, it does us no good to simply comment about how we’re going to be doomed forever and we’re all going to become extinct. In fact I would say that dooming about this topic does more harm than good, in that is stifles revolutionary praxis. Let me put it this way, if you believe really, truly believe that we, humanity, are doomed and that all will soon be lost, then the bourgeoisie, the ultimate enemy of humanity, have already won. Even of all becomes lost we cannot give up now, nor ever. We must continue to struggle no matter what, even if it seems hopeless, we must fight, organize, and keep pushing. If the people of the revolutions of the past got caught up in doomerism and pessimism, there would never have been a soviet union, no PRC, no Cuba, no DPRK, Palestine would have been crushed already if people gave into doomerism. If people stoped struggling there would be zero good things in the world. So even if the world seems bleak and hopeless now, even if it seems like all is lost, the worst thing to do is to throw up your hands and say “were fucked” “Its so over” “The world will end” that will guarantee that all is lost, instead this should steel our resolve to escalate and intensify and eventually win the struggle against the bourgeoisie across the world.
I agree and my intention in posting this wasn't really to stoke "it's so over" sentiments which I realize I did a bad job on. I like Lenin's quote that we must be as radical as reality itself, and this is reality.
I know we are fucked, but I still want any survivors to know/remember who fucked us. Add ecocide to the list of crimes they should be sent to the guillotines for.
