Someone once told me their grandparents in Brazil were part of a community where Latin was spoken as the primary language, but I can't find any information about it online in English.

I am reminded of Dan Quayle's "I took Latin in high school." Offered as proof that he could relate to the Latino community.

A lot of Catholics in Brazil and old Catholicism required the use of Latin during mass, so it's totally plausible.
