Aren't there any laws in the US that threats against a government official are a crime or felony? Make the police earn their pay and send them after the culprits.

As if the cops weren't either among these assholes or at least on their side.

Not that this would necessarily make a difference, but I would think threatening a public official would be an FBI matter.

That is a problem that should not exist in the first place. But it's America, so one has to deal with it. Maybe it will be necessary to get the professionals in, especially if the crime can be assumed to be crossing state lines in a way.

Yes. And it's likely that the police and/or FBI are investigating. But, this isn't a TV show. Investigations take time and there is no magic that let's the police discover the sender withinthe first 40 minutes to allow another 10 for an overly dramatic court room examination.

Real life is messy, and it's quite possible that there just isn't enough evidence to locate the sender. Let alone actually prosecute them. Most crimes in the US have really low closure rates. Honestly, I'd be surprised if they mange to locate the sender.

I'm well aware that they won't catch all, or anyone in the short time frame. But whoever they take off the road is an improvement for society. Even if it takes months.
